Chanel Presents its first Collection since the Health Crisis

Models present creations by Chanel at the end of the Women's Spring-Summer 2020/2021.

Today, Chanel unveiled online its new 2020/21 cruise collection, whose runway show, originally scheduled for May 7 in Capri, Italy, had been cancelled due to the coronavirus health crisis.

"This setback didn't influence the collection so much that I wanted it to be smaller, lighter in every way - we have about 50 looks (compared to 70 in general)," says Virginie Viard, who succeeded Karl Lagerfeld.

At the beginning of March, Chanel had announced the cancellation of its runway show, arguing that the "health and well-being" of the teams and guests was its "main concern". The fashion house said it was considering "alternatives".

It also decided that the pieces of the summer 2020 collection would remain in the boutique until autumn, when designers are calling for a rethink of the production and the catwalks.

The Chanel haute couture collection will be presented on July 7," says the artistic director. "I pray that in October we will be able to parade with the music, girls, even if there are only a few guests. It will be the last one at the Grand Palais (in Paris) which will be under construction from January".
